Problem: How can lottery inventory with cycle count tickets be tracked without using the lottery module?
Note:  We do not recommend to process lotteries outside of the lottery module, however, it is possible. If the lottery module is not used, serial numbers will not be tracked.
Solution:
  1. If a lottery has already been created using the Lottery module, delete all lottery purchases from the lottery module of books that have been available for sale.
  2. Change the lottery vendor so it is also the merchandise vendor.
  3. Change the lottery instant department to a Store or Other Income type.
  4. Make sure the items are set up in the Vendor section with the Units in Case as the number of tickets in the pack. This way every time a book is bought, the correct amount of tickets are purchased.
  5. Do a regular purchase for all current books as a merchandise. For all partial books, change the invoice units in case to the remaining number of tickets. This will get initial inventory. Note: Serial numbers will no longer be tracked in the system. This will have to be done in the instant purchases as a normal merchandise vendor, which has no place for serials. The only thing that can be done is have an invoice for each book purchased with the invoice number being the serial.
  6. Instant sales will be seen at the top of the Shift Reports. The lottery sales will no longer be in the lottery section with the online sales and the paid outs.
  7. The UPC sales can now be viewed in the Custom Income Item Sales Report. Note: Serial sales will not be tracked.
  8. Result: The lottery UPCs can be counted along with regular merchandise with cycle count tickets and from the handheld.
