Question: How to replace a cash drawer?
Answer:
The cash drawer requires a replacement resolution:  If the cash drawer is no longer operating correctly, it needs to be replaced with a working unit to dispense change to paying customers.  Only two or three changes are needed, but sales items need to be moved out of the way to ensure a clean area and working space when replacing the cash drawer.
  1. Make sure the system is powered off.
  2. From the first screen with the list of employees, click the upper left-hand button in the corner.
  3. The prompt, Are you sure? will appear > click Yes.
Note: It will take a few seconds for the SmartPOS unit to power off.
  4. Physically move the SmartPOS unit off to the side.
Note: The cash drawer is connected to the printer, not the back of the register.
  5. Remove the cable from the back of the cash drawer (all other models) > move your old cash drawer out of the way.
Note: It's good practice to replace the six-pin telephone cable that comes with the new cash drawer.
  6. Trace the cable to the back of the printer > Remove the cable > Connect the new cash drawer cable to the back of the printer.
  7. Connect the cable to the rear of the replacement cash drawer (Jay models) or underside (all other models) > place the cash drawer in the previous location where the old cash drawer was.
  8. Place the SmartPOS unit on top of the new cash drawer.
  9. Press the power button on the unit.
  10. Inform the SmartPOS tech of the cash drawer change along with the name brand.
