Problem: Cash register does not scan a short UPC and/or UPCE
Solution:
This is most likely due to the barcode scanner not being programmed to expand UPCE to UPCA. The scanner has to be programmed to expand UPCE to UPCA either by a certified technician or by programming codes which can be found online. This solution should work for the following Honeywell barcode scanner models: IS3480 QuantumE - Quantum 3580; Fusion 3780; Orbit 7120/7180; Solaris 7820.
  1. Print the barcode attached.
  2. Scan the barcode.
Note: When scanning, make sure to press the large button on the top of the scanner (this is how the scanner enters programming mode).  It should beep three times.
  3. Test scan some short barcodes.
Note: In Price Book, there are two different UPCs:  UPC-A which is a long 12-digit UPC and a UPC-E which is a shorter 8-digit UPC.  The last digit is a check digit that gets calculated with a constant algorithm.  You can verify what should be your check digit should be at: http//www.upcdatabase.com/checkdigit.asp.
